Dog Bans Re-instated For Southwest Beaches
Dog bans across certain southwest beaches have been re-instated for the Summer season.
The Capel Shire Council has reinstated its ban for dogs in several areas including Dalyellup Beach south from Norton Promenade to Dalyellup Boulevard, along with Minninup Beach, Stratham, north of Rich Road for 300 metres.
The ban comes in an effort to provide family friendly areas where children can swim and play freely.
Peppermint Grove Beach south of Wave Walk to Peppermint Grove Road and Forrest beach south from the northern edge of the car park at Forrest Beach Road for 300 metres are also dog prohibited.
Capel shire CEO Paul Sheedy says hopefully people continue to do the right thing.
“If we get complaints from people in those areas, we need to deal with them," he said.
"We tried to make sure that people without dogs and people with dogs have areas that they can both go and enjoy the beach.
"We hope that people will respect the signage and do the right thing.
The ban is in place from now through until April 30th, during the most popular time to hit the beach.
