The latest Bushfire Information Across Regional WA

With catastrophic fire conditions in parts of the State today, here are the current Bushfire warnings in place from DFES.

There are now three WATCH AND ACTS in place in the Shire of Ravensthorpe, the Shire of Manjimup and the Shire of Denmark.

The earlier Bushfire Emergency Warning in Hopetoun has been downgraded.

Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for the town site and surrounding area of Hopetoun in the Shire of Ravensthorpe

A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people south of Springdale Road between the Jerdacuttup River and the Culham Inlet.

  • The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as the fire has been contained and under control.
  • There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and the conditions are changing.
  • You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.
  • The fire started near Buegge Road and Springdale Road in Hopetoun
  • It is burning in north of Dotterel Drive in swamp land and paddocks.

WHAT TO DO:

  • Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.If defending your property, do not rely on the mains water supply as the system may be affected.


BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

  • The bushfire is moving slowly in a south south westerly direction at 3 kilometres per hour.
  • It is contained and under control.
  • Homes are not designed or constructed to withstand a fire in today's condition

ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS:

Springdale Road and Southern Ocean Road are closed.Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

SCHOOLS:

The Department of Education advises parents of students at Hopetoun Primary School that children are currently safe and still on site.Parents may come and collect their children from school if they wish to. Parents need to sign their children out so they are accounted for. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

  • Firefighters are on the scene, actively fighting the fire.
  • 60 volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service, Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters are attending.
  • Aerial support has been sent to protect crews and homes.


EXTRA INFORMATION:

  • The fire was reported at 08:45 AM on 15 November 2016 and currently there has been 200 hectares burnt.
  • The cause of the fire is accidental.
  • Shire of Ravensthorpe is managing the fire.

 

 

A Bushfire burning in the SHIRE OF MANJIMUP has been upgraded to a WATCH AND ACT.

Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for 11km north-north-west of Manjimup in SHIRE OF MANJIMUP

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people bounded by Donnelly Mill Road, Linfarne Road and Tower Road, 11km north-north-west of Manjimup.

  • There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching in the area and conditions are changing.
  • You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.
  • The fire started in Yornup State forest.
  • It is burning towards Donnelly Mill Road.

WHAT TO DO:

  • If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
  • If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.
  • If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.
  • Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.


BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

  • The bushfire is moving fast in a southerly direction.
  • It is out of control and unpredictable.


ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS:

Rapoff Road is closed.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

  • Firefighters are on the scene.

  • The cause of the fire is an escape from a Parks and Wildlife prescribed burn.
  • Parks and Wildlife is now managing the fire.

 

 

Bushfire WATCH AND ACT is in place for people in the vicinity of Mount Shadforth Road in the Western part of Denmark in SHIRE OF DENMARK

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people on or near Mount Shadforth Road, Peace Street, Cussons Road, McNabb Road, Turner Road, including Peace Street Special Residential Sub Division..

  • There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and the conditions are changing.
  • You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.
  • The fire started near Mount Shadforth Road in Denmark.

WHAT TO DO:

  • If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
  • If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.
  • If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.
  • Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.


BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

  • It is unpredictable.
  • Flames are 10 metres high.

Avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site.

Mount Shadforth Road is closed from Turner Road to Peace Street.
