Look Up Tonight, WA!
Get out your binoculars WA, tonight the moon is going to look AAA-MAZING!
Actually, you might not even need them, because tonight the moon is going to be so close to earth that you can almost see the craters on it!
So why is this extraordinary thing happening tonight in our WA skies?
The moons orbit around Earth is slightly elliptical, which basically means sometimes it's closer to us, and other times it's further away.
When the moon is as close to Earth as it can be and is full, we call this a supermoon. It looks a lot closer than usual, and if you have a pair of binoculars handy, you can sometimes see detail on the moon's surface!
Tonight we will have a supermoon across our WA skies, NASA have said that we probably won't see the moon this close again until 2034! Keep an eye out for this beauty tonight WA, it's going to be amazing!
