Man Charged With The Murder Of Missing Schoolgirl
A man has been charged with the murder of Sydney schoolgirl Quanne Diec, who went missing 18 years ago at age 12.
Vincent Tarantino appeared in Sydney’s Central Local Court charged with murder, detaining a person for advantage and possessing a knife. He did not apply for bail.
It is believed that Quanne was abducted on her way to school from her Granville home in 1998. Tarantino lived in the same suburb at the time.
Police are currently conducting a search at a property in Sydney.
Police said that Tarantino was not known to Quanne at the time of her disappearance.
During his court appearance Tarantino claimed that his brother and partner were killed in response to his actions.
"I believe my brother ... and partner ... have been murdered in retaliation for what I've done," he said.
More to come.
