Google Searches For ‘Australia Immigration’ Spiked During The US Election
Americans unhappy with the results of their recent election appear to be looking for a way out.
Searches for ‘Australia immigration’ and ‘New Zealand immigration’ both spiked during the US election according to Google Trends.
Related search terms also surged as it became apparent that Donald Trump would win, with Clinton supporters looking for overseas alternatives to their home nation.
The New Zealand Now website has received 70,500 visits from Americans in the past 24 hours according to The Guardian. The Canadian immigration website also crashed during the election.
