CONFIRMED: Dreamworld Will Be Open For The Christmas Holidays
Park Gates Will Reopen December 10
Dreamworld will reopen its gates to the public on December 10.
Park owners Ardent Leisure announced the reopening date to the Australian stock exchange this morning, ahead of a press conference.
The reopening comes six weeks after four people were tragically killed on the Thunder River Rapids ride, which has since been decommissioned.
Dreamworld CEO Craig Davidson said all of White Water World's pools and slides will be fully operational, and so will a number of Dreamworld's major attractions.
By re-opening, Davidson said the park would have passed "an unprecedented multi-level safety review, encompassing Workplace Health and Safety Queensland's audit, Dreamworld's internal engineering review, Pitt & Sherry's independent review and the external peer-review by UK based theme park safety specialists, LTC"
"Every ride open on 10th December will have passed this rigorously conducted, multi-level safety review"
A Workplace Health and Safety audit cleared the park as safe for visitors last week finding no guest safety issues, while the past week has been spent fixing 10 improvement and infringement issued they had with the park, including several on the Buzzsaw roller coaster.
Meantime, Gold Coast City Council will spend $200,000 on a public campaign to attract visitors back to the tourism hotspot.
