Another Major Recall For Toyota
5.8 million cars affected by possible airbag malfunction
An additional 5.8 million Toyota vehicles have been recalled worldwide, over potentially faulty airbag inflators.
If deployed, the affected airbags could rupture explosively and spray metal fragments at both drivers and passengers.
Carpart manufacturer and supplier Takata say that at least 15 deaths and over 150 injuries have already been linked to the defect worldwide.
The recall covers 20 different car models, including the popular Corolla and Yaris, produced between May 2000 and November 2001, and April 2006 and December 2014.
180,000 Aussie cars are thought to be affected.
