Boy dies in horror Melbourne crash

A 15-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a car that slammed into a tree in Sunshine West on Monday night, killing him and injuring four of his mates.

Authorities were called to Oldfield Road after the 15-year-old boy lost control of the car - he died at the scene.

Two young girls - one aged 13 - are clinging to life in the Alfred hospital with head injuries, while two boys - aged 16 and 17 - have suffered serious injuries.

One of the boys has leg fractures and possible spinal injuries, while the other also has leg fractures and cuts, they are both being treating in the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Witnesses have described hearing screaming after the crash, calling it “chaotic” and saying the girls were trying to clamber out of the car just after it slammed into the tree at about 10pm.


Police are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
