Cassie Olczak Found: “I’m Just So Hungry”
More details have emerged after rescuers found missing teenager, 16-year-old Cassie Olczak.
She has been found alive after five days, going missing on Sunday evening in Sydney’s south.
On Friday, a passing driver found her on the side of Princes Highway at Waterfall and called triple zero. CCTV footage had shown the teenager at Waterfall Station at about 7pm on Sunday, sparking a search involving helicopters and tracker dogs on Wednesday.
According to Daily Mail Australia, one of the first things she said to rescuers was “I’m so sorry… and I’m really hungry.”
Cassie’s mother, Connie, told reporters that finding her daughter felt like a miracle, “it is the most amazing feeling in the world. I can’t describe it.
“I felt like I was living in a movie and I just had to keep looking at her - 'oh my god, It’s actually her.’”
Assistant Superintendent Gary Ford told reporters “she has been in the bush… from what she said. Not that far from the train station area but she has been in the bush for this period of time.
“She’s obviously had some exposure to the elements but she’s pretty much really in good health considering.
“We will talk to her in the next 24 hours or so, once she’s recovered.”
